b]How long have you been playing?
I've Played for just over one year. Started off mining solo and in fleet, and have moved on to running missions. Basically exploring whatever aspect of the game I can finance.
Have you ever been in low sec?
I rushed out to low sec after having trained up covert ops and as soon as I could fit my Manticore. Battleclinic provides several examples you can try out as your learning how to effectively fit your ship. You can read about fittings, you can watch Youtube video's, but practice costs allot of isk, and losing everything you worked for just to learn one of a thousand hard lessons is a bit much. I lost that ship, and a couple of days later I lost a Raven. Although I have not been back, I would go with a group.
missions or complexes?
I would avoid running missions in low sec. Unless they where missions to counter what keeps many of us out of low sec. Some form of Bounty Hunter Missions that capitalize on local bounty's added to Pirate Players who have had multiple kills in local space. These missions could be on a countdown to start, and could broadcast over several local channels recruiting additional bounty hunters to balance the competition. Once this faction of Bounty hunters declared its bounty, all natural escape routes for this pirate would be closed for the duration of the "Bounty Mission." If this pirate somehow escaped the Bounty Faction could provide tracking so that you could pursue the bastard.
appeal for you?
Its appeal is simply a gear, knowledge, check. Do you know enough to survive. Its certainly not considered a place to make ISK. Not without contradicting your own values and pretty much dropping your pants to take a crap in your neighbors yard.
If not, why not?
There's no Mulligan in lowsec, or in EVE pvp for that matter. There should be an option that pops up before complete defeat and offers you a chance to tip your king for a price. Determining the value of the payment could be added into the game based off of the value of your insurance, or your ship and fittings. Of course this would take away from the whole podding experience......or not. Imagine the winner still having the option to pod you. It would go something like this,..the loser receives a surrender pop up, accepts, then the winner receives the offer and makes the decision. If the winner agrees. The loser could be left in space, or ported to the closest station to lick his wounds, figure out what he did wrong and go back at it. There are always exceptions.
rewards = risk?
Not without a group, and even then, the profits have to be shared which diminishes the value.
risk over-stated?
Absolutely not. When you get jumped, it happens fast
education from savvy players?
I've heard this game is meant to be played in a corporation. I think this is the major reason why. You don't always know what to read up on, but you may be fortunate enough to have an in game tutor to save you a ship or two and point you in the right direction.
number one change to low sec[/b]
1.Consequence- degrade ship stat bonus for surviving pirates for each kill. Stack them like a debuff that won't come off until downtime. Hell make them a moving bookmark that we can warp to. Ohoo, that would be a nice bounty hunter trained ability.
2. Reachable & Worthy Payout-Group mission payout
3. Arena Mission-All players would be eligible regardless of security status, unless they had killed another player outside of the mission within a given time frame. So many PVP options; a) team capture b)annihilation c)Last man standing. ......the rewards could be faction based off of LP. I don't see your typical unfair advantage pirate as the type who would get too close to an event like this, considering the talent that it would appeal to, and the crowd that it would draw regularly.
